Messy Fun had by all!

PHOTOS COMING SOON! :)

About 60 kids and adults attended the first ever Messy Church event at Dapto Uniting - a fantastic time was had by all!

A wide range of activities were on offer including mask making, playdough animal farms, cupcake decorating, finger painting, beading, bubble fun, mural painting, outdoor games, finger puppet making, slime and jelly pig slops. A highlight for many was crafting our own little pigs out of pink plasticine, complete with googly eyes and curly pipe cleaner tails!

After our Together Time in the church learning about the story of the Prodigal Son, we all headed back into the hall for our celebration feast! We all tucked into our party dinner and enjoyed the culinary creations that the kids helped to make in the Messy Church Kitchen.

The evening concluded with a good old party favourite - a Pinata!

Next Messy Church will be held
August 21st 2011, from 4:30pm!

Oink! Let's get messy on May 22nd!

Not long now until Messy Church launches on Sunday May 22nd!

We will be having a 'piggy theme' to celebrate our first event! There will be heaps of art and craft activities available including fingerpainting, jewelry making, collage, clay, painting, puppet making and much more!

In the Messy Church Kitchen there will be cupcake decorating and cooking fun. There will also be some great games and messy challenges for those feeling a bit more active, and quieter activity stations for those kids wanting to chill and relax!

We will be learning about a story in the Bible of a son who runs away his family and ends up living with a bunch of pigs (and eating their sloppy food - eeeww gross!)

PARENTS/CARERS: you can R.S.V.P. for the May 22nd event by following this link! It would be great to know if you and your family are coming for catering purposes.

FIRST EVER Messy Church!

Join us on Sunday 22nd May 2011 for our first ever Messy Church! Our theme for the night is the "Prodigal Son". All are welcome! :)

The fun kicks off at 4:30pm and finishes with a shared family dinner.

WHAT IS MESSY CHURCH?
Messy Church is a new way of 'doing' Church for today's generation. It is an opportunity for the whole family to spend quality time together on a Sunday afternoon - chilling, creating, celebrating & chomping! Messy Church is meant to be relaxed and informal.

Messy...because it describes each one of us! No-one is perfect and each of us lead messy lives for many reasons.

Messy...implies doing messy activities! While there will be messy craft, these are entirely optional and there will be plenty of things to do that don't involve getting dirty.

Messy...because our program, though based each time on a theme, is not watertight! There is room for spontaneity & flexibility as activity times will be 'rubbery'.

WHAT HAPPENS AT MESSY CHURCH?
Messy Church starts off in the hall with a wide range of fun (and messy!) activities including cooking, craft, games and free play. We then head into the church for 'Together Time' where we learn about God through stories, songs, videos, puppets and drama. We finish back in the hall with a meal together - no need to feed hungry kids when you get home!

A typical program will look like this:
4:30pm = CHILL TIME   Registration & welcome activities
4:45pm = CREATIVE TIME   Activity stations set up around the hall e.g. craft, cooking, games
5:30pm = CLEAN-UP TIME   A quick tidy up of the hall to get it ready for dinner
5:40pm = TOGETHER TIME  Learning about God in the church
6:00pm = CHEWING TIME   Eating dinner together as families
6:30pm = HOME TIME!

IS THERE A COST?
It is a FREE event for all ages, however donations are encouraged to help cover cost of food/craft materials (suggested donation = $5/person or $10/family, gold coin for pensioners).

DO I NEED TO BOOK OR R.S.V.P.?
You are more than welcome to just turn up on the afternoon... however it would be great to know if you are coming to help us with catering (especially with allergies). Follow the R.S.V.P. link on the website and fill out the form.

Please note: all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult who must stay throughout the whole event. You may choose to get involved with the craft activities with your child/ren or chat with other parents.

WHERE IS MESSY CHURCH HELD?
Messy Church is held at Dapto Uniting Church. Dapto Uniting is located on the Princes Highway (next to Dominos Pizza).
